GPRO Tips: How to understand Driver Feedback?

Chances are that you came here searching for tips to understanding driver feedback in the online simulation racing game, GPRO or Grand Prix Racing Online. However, if you are not, lets quickly get familiarized with GPRO. Though this article was written way back in 2013, the tips, and tricks written here are still valid in 2020. I have been an on & off players at GPRO myself.

    Grand Prix Racing Online

First a bit of the background for those who do not know GPRO (Grand Prix Online Racing). It’s an online racing game site which is akin to Formula 1 racing, however, this is not your typical animation-based game. You don’t use a keyboard to race – the race itself is a simulation.

GPRO Simulations help you challenge yourself into an indulging experience, technicalities, and strategies. It is a pressing game as well and mimics the Formula 1 game in a best manner.

Since your race depends on various parameters of how your car performs, the driver becomes the critical factor, as is in F1. Hence it is essential to understand driver feedback for you to set up the car. It is unlike your racing arcade games you play on your phones.

GPRO Logo - Understanding Driver Feedback is very important
GPRO Logo – Understanding Driver Feedback is very important if you want to improve your performance.

The game is created with past gaming experiences, incorporating the concepts, knowledge, and experience of previous (classic) F1 manager games. A mixture of expertise with a high degree of innovative thoughts and ideas, the game is unique in the world of F1 management games.

I have been participating in GPRO for some years now and it is always challenging to understand the driver feedback for qualifying and to gauge the settings. I have also added a fruitful conversation from the forum in terms of expenses (virtual) each track in GPRO costs in terms of cost towards participating in the race in any season. You will find it below the driver feedback for qualifying list.

    Understand driver feedback from Qualifying

PRO Tip: Have a driver with good technical insight, which helps in getting good driver feedback while qualifying and testing. Based on your driver feedback, understand the level, and make changes accordingly.

    Driver Feedback

Your GPRO Driver will give you different feedback, and it is crucial to understand what your driver is saying and how you need to tune the settings in the car to get the fastest lap possible in Qualifying 1 and Qualifying 2, and also setting the settings for the entire race.

You can have different setting for Q1 and Q2 and a third setting for Race as well. It all depends on how best your driver can make use of the car settings you chose to input.

    Response to Driver Feedback
Extreme: you need to reduce a lot around 170 – 300
Intense: you need to reduce by 90 – 170
Higher: you need reduce by 40 – 90
    Low: Increase by 50 – 100
    Lower: Increase by 100 – 150
    Lowest: Increase by 150 – 300

    Wings

Wings play a vital role in balancing the aerodynamics performance of your car. Wing settings define what the downforce and grip your car will get on a specific racetrack.

Driver FeedbackWhat you need to do?
+3 I am really missing a lot of speed in straightsExtreme: you need to reduce a lot around 170 – 300
+2 The car is lacking some speed in the straightsIntense: you need to reduce by 90 – 170
+1 The car could have a bit more speed in the straightsHigher: you need reduce by 40 – 90
-1 I am missing a bit of grip in the curvesLow: Increase by 50 – 100
-2 The car is very unstable in many cornersLower: Increase by 100 – 150
-3 I cannot drive the car, there’s no grip on itLowest: Increase by 150 – 300

    Engine

Your engine is the critical element of the car to move forward and defines raw pace. However, with an incorrect setting, your engine can blow up during the race and you will end up with DNF (Did Not Finish) and cost of engine repairs.

Your driver will judge the best setting for your engine and will give you feedback and all you need to do is adjust the settings.

Driver FeedbackWhat you need to do?
+3 No, no, no!!! Favor a lot more the low revs!Extreme: you need to reduce a lot around 170 – 300
+2 The engine revs are too highIntense: you need to reduce by 90 – 170
+1 Try to favor a bit more the low revsHigher: you need reduce by 40 – 90
-1 I feel that I do not have enough engine power in the straightsLow: Increase by 50 – 100
-2 The engine power on the straights is not sufficientLower: Increase by 100 – 150
-3 You should try to favor a lot more the high revsLowest: Increase by 150 – 300

    Brakes

Just like F1, the concept that GPRO is based on, is a high-speed sport and every fast car will need the best breaks to slow down and stop. Especially in GPRO and F1, brakes play a vital role and is often a “random” that hits you in GPRO.

Getting it right helps your driver take a corner faster, aiding overall speed and a faster lap time.

Driver FeedbackWhat you need to do?
+3 Please, move the balance a lot more to the backExtreme: you need to reduce a lot around 170 – 300
2 I think the brakes effectiveness could be higher if we move the balance to the backIntense: you need to reduce by 90 – 170
+1 Put the balance a bit more to the backHigher: you need reduce by 40 – 90
-1 I would like to have the balance a bit more to the frontLow: Increase by 50 – 100
-2 I think the brakes effectiveness could be higher if we move the balance to the frontLower: Increase by 100 – 150
-3 I would feel a lot more comfortable to move the balance to the frontLowest: Increase by 150 – 300

    Gear

In racing, Gear changes make the difference between how fast you are starting from the grid to how you are able to slow down during corners (engine breaking) and making the most of what the engine has to offer.

All racing cars are tuned with a gearbox that helps quick shifts at the most optimum RPM. Much the same in GPRO as well, your settings will define how well the driver is able to extract the maximum potential from the engine.

Driver FeedbackWhat you need to do?
+3 Please, put a lot lower ration between the gearsExtreme: you need to reduce a lot around 170 – 300
+2 The gear ratio is too highIntense: you need to reduce by 90 – 170
+1 I cannot take advantage of the power of the engine. Put the gear ratio a bit lowerHigher: you need reduce by 40 – 90
-1 I am very often in the red. Put the gear ratio a bit higherLow: Increase by 50 – 100
-2 The gear ratio is too lowLower: Increase by 100 – 150
-3 It feels like the engine is going to explode. Put a lot higher ratio between gearsLowest: Increase by 150 – 300

    Suspension

Track racing is a sport where you go around a pre-defined lap, in loops. Though the tracks are smooth visually, driving a sensitive car like a F1 machine will help you differentate how rough it can be. Plus, given that tracks are a loop, the corners are almost always (just like normal roads and highways) have a bend.

Your suspension setting will help you driver corner faster, and give a consistant downforce performance irrespective of the virual bumps on GPRO tracks.

Driver FeedbackWhat you need to do?
+3 The car is far too righ. Lower a lot of rigidityExtreme: you need to reduce a lot around 170 – 300
+2 The suspension rigidity is too highIntense: you need to reduce by 90 – 170
+1 The car is too rigid. Lower a bit the rigidityHigher: you need reduce by 40 – 90
-1 I think with a bit more rigid suspension I will be able to go fasterLow: Increase by 50 – 100
-2 The suspension rigidity is too lowLower: Increase by 100 – 150
-3 The suspension rigidity should be a lot higherLowest: Increase by 150 – 300

    Expenditure (virtual) of participation

An excerpt from GPRO Forum thread.

    • I create a scale to see How Expensive are the 60 tracks of GPRO
…so, calculate the scale with this Data & parameters:
      -Driver Skills: CON=200, TAL=150, EXP=175 +50% Clear Track Risk.
      -Level of Parts 6. (all)
      -Scale (0,1,2,3,4) like usual.
-I Put the Scale Number first (in 0,00 form) and then a point, the Number of the tracks and the track
    • Its Easy Now to see How Expensive is the Season.!!!
…just we add the 17 values of scale and have a Total Number to Compare.!!!

  • Political Slug Fest 2012

Welcome to Political Slug Fest 2012!

Its a Political Slug Fest approaching and every politician is making his or her presence felt. After all, its the 2014 elections approaching.

I started wondering why so early? We are yet to live through 2013, and are not even sure if we will live through this year according to Mayan’s prediction of End of the World in December 2012. And the whole lot of Scams and publicity antics are just adding up. Do you feel that this is getting a bit over board and getting messy by the day? A quick view at the top news channel website and you will get 10 “Breaking News” at the very least. Such is the dynamics of politics in India.

Let me start off with the smallest one. Petrol prices have been a political hot boiler for some time now and the latest news is that its cheaper by 0.56 paise!! This is definitely a welcome breaking news after the vehement protest by Mamta Banarjee. The Liquefied Petroleum Gas, or common man’s fuel prices have not been reduced, and the number of cylinders offered for a family now reduced to 3 / year in some states. Its time we all get Induction Cookers / Stoves at home.

But, would that not increase my electricity cost?

Kejriwal flew a political beemer at BJP by hi-jacking the hike in Electricity rates issue for consumers in Delhi. He was shown tearing apart what appeared to be electricity bills from Delhi electric distribution companies. Poor guys, they will have to still pay their bills and stand in queue for the duplicate bill as well!

Speaking of electricity, we of course cannot forget the Coal gate, and it does need no introduction and explanation. Country cried over it, but that voice ultimately died on its own because of T20 World Cup.

As if Cricket did not have its own problems already, India TV claimed today that they have video footage of Umpires who agreed to fix the match. Candidly called “Operation World Cup”, curiously enough,  none of the umpires featured in the sting operation were actually on the ground in Sri Lanka. How is that? or Howszzatt! or Whaterver.

Then was the Irrigation Scam in Maharashtra where the ruling coalition party is in fix. Ajit Pawar immediately offered to resign. I was wondering why? Has it not been the trend now to still stick to your seat even if the allegations run into 6+ digits in crores? Gone are the days when moral responsibility had a meaning.

I am sick of bigger scams, so here comes a small one. Small, albeit in the number of crores of Rupees but big when you gauge the tight slap on its face. Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi. He allegedly has taken money in return of favors from his wife’s home party politicians, DLF being the prime accused vendor.  Almost all of Congress’ top politicians came out to defend the son-in-law of party clan.

Obviously, the above was thanks to Arvind Kejriwal who managed to sneak into DLF’s transactions and unearthed a potential political big PLUS for his party, the India Against Corruption or abbreviated IAC.

IAC? Does it sound similar to INC?

The issue is latest and refuses to die down. Thanks to Media, it will be alive for some days to come. And yes, I did not even started talking about Bigg Boss!

  • Stepped nose cone spoils the lookers!

Stepped nose cone spoils the lookers!

After the recent announcements about the car launches at Jerez, the new design of the Formula 1 car that I saw didnt force me to make a Wow! epression. Further, the formula1 cars started looking ugly. Except for the McLaren’s MP4-27, almost all cars started to look ugly. More so our own Force India F1 (do you really want me to call them Sahara Force India F1???) with heavily revised side pods. They are appearing prudent. This is the first year I ever went this detailed into the look and feel of the car but this year, the lookers have turned ugly.

McLaren’s car is the best looker among all 2012 cars that have been released so far. Its far more identical to its predecessor, albeit the nose is placed lower lot to comply with this years regulations. “This is a beautiful car,” commented Button. “Many of them that you will see will not be!”. Well I could not agree more Jenson, but F1 cars are not build to look good anyways, right? Which brings me to the question about the performance difference the McLaren car may have as compared to others on the grid. On the first day at Jerez, Lotus topped the charts with Kimi showing no sign of rust after a gap of two years away from Formula1, followed closely by Paul di Resta for Force India. McLaren were placed a distant 8th.

The other car everyone was keen to know how it comes up was the RB8. The Red Bull challenger with the magical touch of Adrian Newly has its stakes held up higher as they are preparing to defent their title they hard earned last year?

Unofficial Tuesday test times from Jerez:

    1. Kimi Raikkonen, Lotus, 1:19.670, 73 Laps
    2. Paul di Resta, Force India, 1:19.772, 101 Laps
    3. Nico Rosberg, Mercedes, 1:20.219, 56 Laps
    4. Mark Webber, Red Bull, 1:20.496, 53 Laps
    5. Daniel Ricciardo, Toro Rosso, 1:20.694, 57 Laps
    6. Michael Schumacher, Mercedes, 1:20.794, 41 Laps
    7. Kamui Kobayashi, Sauber, 1:21.353, 106 Laps
    8. Jenson Button, McLaren, 1:21.530, 60 Laps
    9. Felipe Massa, Ferrari, 1:22.815, 69 Laps
    10. Heikki Kovalainen, Caterham, 1:23.178, 28 Laps
    11. Pastor Maldonado, Williams, 1:23.371, 25 Laps
    12. Pedro de la Rosa, HRT, 1:23.676, 44 Laps

  • Why are Women Cricketers not appreciated?

Why are Women Cricketers not appreciated?

I remember an article (circulated via emails) by our former President, Mr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. In which he mentions about what he found difference in newspapers in Israel and other countries. What he saw was all other news about violence and political instability (negativity) never occupied the top headlines, but achievements did. And he read about how a farmer converted a desert land into fertile land which was the Headline, unlike in India where if someone has been involved in Corruption, thats more deserving.

The other day, in the newspapers’s sports section, was the news about the Awards given to all cricketers who excelled in Cricket. There were pictures of the World Cup winning cricket team, picture of Sachin Tendulkar, Salim Durani receiving the CK Nayudu throphy, Kapil Dev at a BCCI Event and Mrs. Tendulkar and Mrs. Dhoni.

Well, obviously these are the names everyone will be eager to be know and see. But ironically, the Women Cricket awardees’ pictures were never shown, neither on the website nor on the print edition. Why?

    Two Women Awardees’

M A Chidambaram Trophy (Best woman cricketer): MD Thirushkamini. (link to ICC Profile for participation in 2009 World Cup)

M A Chidambaram Trophy (Best woman cricketer junior): Reva Arora

Media should, irrespective of popularity, show all achievers. In the above case, I don’t think Mrs. Tendulkar nor Mrs. Dhoni deserved a mention on Sports page but these two Women Cricketers certainly did, so why did media not showcased these wonderful women? And if they were not there for the event, were they even invited?

What was more disheartening is that I could not find these two women’s profile on BCCI website. Using the site archive search on google, I tried Googling site:BCCI.tv Sachin Tendulkar and found many links, but on searching site:BCCI.tv Reva Arora I got nothing.

I am awaiting a mail reply from the Punjab Cricket Association on where I can find a link to the profile of Ms. Reva Arora. (The mail sent to PCA members, email ids that were available here)

subject: Profile of Women Cricket Players

    Hello Respected Sirs,

I was wondering and trying find out profiles of the two women cricketers awarded recently during the BCCI awards. One of them belongs to your state, Ms. Reva Arora. I was appalled to see that whole media, including the BCCI website never shown these two women receiving awards. Their names were just mentioned. If we dont promote Women cricketers like we do our Men in Blue, how will the future women’s cricket team be motivated to perform?

To show my protest towards the same, I decided to blog about it as its my media and I felt these two women deserved some credit as well.

If you are aware of any links that exist of Ms. Reva Arora’s profile on BCCI website or your Punjab Cricket Association website, please do share with me as I would like to draw my blog reader’s attention to the achievements of Ms. Reva Arora.

    Awaiting your reply sir.

    Regards,
    Hemal Shah

    What BCCI Needs to do?

The BCCI website is still not complete, even after it came to force two years back. Is it too difficult for BCCI to complile a list of players and create individual profiles with their performance records? At least for those who have recieved the awards to start off with? Being the richest Cricket body in the world, the richest sport association than the bigger Football clubs out there, why can’t such a small thing be done?

BCCI needs to start providing this data base of players who have been playing for India or their regional cricket associations. With the might of BCCI, they can promote Women Cricket so much more than what it is now. Half of India does not even know who is the Women’s Cricket team captain or even if the Team itself exist.

    Wake up BCCI.

  • World cup’s coming to India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh

Oh boy! lets see who wins then… no doubt that England are fresh from the Ashes bashing and they look pretty hefty this time around. As for Australia, the certainly are not favorites this year.. the reason being that people have got used to them being on top and are tried seeing them. Of course Australian fans are out there and will be yearning that they take this cup too but I dont see any chance for them. Ricky can’t do it again this time around.

Other favorites for sure are India [dil maange kya kare ;)] and South Africa. SA are looking much more a dominant side this year and I will not be surprised if I find them in Finals. (more…)

  • The New Comeback kid – Narain Kartikeyan

Narain on his twitterverse said that he is “Back in F1 in 2011. Signed a deal to race for HRT. I’ve always maintained that my time in F1 was not over and now making good on that promise”

F1 has been springing come backs after Micheal Schumacher made one last year.

This is a news that I was expecting very much since Bernie Ecclestone was so much pressing for an Indian on the grid during the inaugural Indian Grand Prix this year. Bernie also landed a seat for Karun Chandok, son of Vicky Chandok who ruled early Indian Motorsports, in HRT for 2010. However the youngster couldn’t compete in every race thanks for a financial backing crunch with his sponsors. Why Bernie was not keen on having a Korean on the grid where for the first time last year a F1 race was held is every one’s guess? F1 is surely going places in Asia and with a superb Singapore Night race, its all going to get more and more exiting for sure and by a great measure.

  • Bernie Ecclestone does an ad-vantage

F1 superemo, 80 years old Bernie Ecclestone is a man you hardly can associate with failure. On 25 November, Bernie had been attacked by a group of unknown strangers last month outside his offices in Knightsbridge, as thieves made off with his personal belongings including Jewellery after bruising him badly – including his £11,000 Hublot watch.

Instead of being shy and feeling embarrassed, the advent business man that he is, he immediately called up CEO of Hublot and shared his picture with a bruised eye and under lip with an idea for an advertisement, with a caption – “see what people will do for a Hublot”. Both with an equal sense of humor agreed to it as a brilliant PR opportunity, then came up the advertisement which showed up (un-edited) in the local newspapers yesterday.

  • Group Lotus to become Renault title sponsors

For the next season until 2017, Group Lotus will be the title sponsor for the Renault F1 Team, the Forumla1.com website has reported. This comes as a significant move by Proton, the owner of Group Lotus brand name. Lotus, famous for making exotic sports cars, is a British marquee and was active in Formula1.

Next season onwards, the team will be known as Lotus Renault GP. Group Lotus will also become major equity partners in the Renault team with current owners Genii Capital. Mean while, Renault will continue to support the team as a supplier of engines and technological and engineering expertise.

Does this mean that Renault is finally planning to exit the Formula1 team management? For sure, this move points fingers to that question. Renault has bagged great bargain here. While it wont own the team, but it will have its brand prominent. Lotus is very exited about this new development.

To quote from Formula1.com: Group Lotus CEO Dany Bahar said: “I can think of no better platform for automotive brand communications than motorsport and F1 is the very pinnacle of open-wheel racing. We’re well aware that there has been a lot of controversy around the usage of our brand in F1 and I’m delighted to be able to formally clarify our position once and for all: we are Lotus and we are back.”

The Malaysia backed Lotus Racing, the team that brought the Lotus name back to Formula1 (under licence) managed by Air Asia CEO Tony Fernandes last season will be known during the 2011 Championship season as Team Lotus. They will continue to compete next year under the new name and they are switching their engine supplier from Cosworth to Renault.

  • F1 season gets set go!

Brilliant! Finally we have the F1 season starting today.

The show stealers at the first practice session were Force India’s Adrian Sutil (Well it gives me some patriotic shot in my arm) and Robert Kubica for Renault. Tonio had a fine run to be the 7th fastest while the 7 time world champ Schumi ended up 10th fastest.

This line up does not necessarily help predict the actual result since this is a time where you do practice sessions and testing and changes over the weekend for the race on Sunday.

  • Praise them and kick them

The Media is seemingly playing games. I fail to understand that why are they doing this. Yesterday, the Star News show “Shaaramnak” was just more pathetic as anything worse can be.

Ofcourse there was a reason to worry but why such hysteria? India has lost many test matches and the team has failed before too. When they win, they just keep blabbering about how each individual performed but when they loose, they will poop each individual player.

Now if Sachin has hit a century and he couldn’t help turn India’s fortunes, who is to blame? Well, if you go by how the Indian Media behaves then you would be in for a surpirse. First they blamed the master blaster himself.

Why Sachin created hopes in Billions of Indians about a turn of tide and filed to finish it?

To which I would politely reply: Creating hopes is better than not even doing something.

Why can’t you take the sport lightly, without creating hatered. See the guy (bowler) who blew the top order and appraise his performace rather than creating much fuss about the non performance of the batsmen. Why cant you?

  • Red Bull display their machinery

Come Sunday and all the F1 fans can feast their eyes with a RBR F1 car doing rounds on the recently inaugurated Bandra Worli sea link. The RBR 02 2005 car of David Coulthard will cruise on the sea link. The authorities had given their NOC to the event management company for the event with a raider. The election commission has to also approve since the state elections are just so close. Initially plans were put on hold but with their approval coming, the car can zoom.

But there is a catch. The Red Bull team will not be able to display the true speed. David will have to run the car just 20kmph above the pit land speed. That is not exceeding the 100 kmph. This might be a bit disappointing for all the F1 fans and Red Bull. Hope to catch the glimpse of the RBR.

  • Fisi to race with Ferrari

Last week’s hero for Force India F1 team will now be racing for the Italian team, Ferrari. This move comes after the team removed Lucas following a dismal performance. Fisi, who has years of experience is also an Italian. For every F1 driver, driving behind the wheels of a Ferrari is a dream and Dr. Vijay Mallya has not stayed in the way for the Italian’s career. Fisi will race for rest for the races behind the Ferrari and will also have a reserve seat for next year. Is Ferrari also keeping its options open should Massa take time in his recovery.

Go Go Go Force India! Fisi puts Force India F1 on Pole

    Go Go Go Force India!

That is what happened to all the Indian News Channels. And without any doubt, this one was the best news that came to all the Fans of Formula1 in India.

A day when there were no clear favorites for the Pole position in this weekend’s Belgium Grand Prix, Fisichella breaking the barrier for Force India F1 came as surprise to many. But Formula1 is always a game that throws in surprises.

The team that always used to be the back – benchers last season showed some promise at this year’s season so far. However, this is the biggest boost for Force India (using the Mercedes Engine) till date. Fisi stormed in to P1 after Qualifying in top six for Q3 and Q2. The Toyota of Jarno Trulli, again an Italian, was also performing brilliant as compared to its recent races and the 3rd on the Pole was the BMW of Nick Heidfeld.

But the news is Giancarlo Fisichella has now scored a Pole with Force India, with scoring 3 others with others.

    Best of Luck!
