New Age of Advertisments: Increasingly Creative

Bajaj DTSI Bike Advert – The Twisted Sisters

The all new Bajaj XCD advert is the sign of extreme advertising. The whole concept of two girls fighting in a semi Kung fu style mixed with Matrix effects, without any reason invites curiosity. Bajaj has always been targeting affluent and young buyers. It nevers creates boaring advertisments for its bikes like Hero Honda does (the Glamour ad is too bad taste). The Bike is showcased as a substance of importance in the climax,  and fight is for who will be the pillion rider of the two sisters.

The scene has been brilliantly captured to show how important it was for the girls to get the ride. The very fact that the advertisiers have used two girls in co-realtion with the DTSi (Twin or two Spark) Technology the bike posseses.

The sound playing when the bike comes to the picture is like a formula1 car when the bike comes into the picture. Which sounds so unreal for Bajaj bikes which are famous for the sweet soft sound.

    I am so damn impressed!

Bank of Baroda – Baroda Next

Old lady and blessings Advert has invited my curiosity of late. It makes me realize how many times do we send DTMF over the cell phone and landlines. For almost every other service on the phone requires you to type numerous numbers.

Then we come of an age where even for an Aashirwad (Blessings) we need to choose what we need using a DTMF entry! Funny isn’t it. The grandma shown it the advert complements the role. The attention to detail is quite good. The quivering of the grandma adds an invisible charm.

The aim of the advertisment is to introduce the Bank’s new service which enables easier banking, than the normal wait and serve. The ad makes us realise the need for easier access and simpler banking.

I have not found any video or images or any details for this advertisment. As soon as I get one, will post here.

This post is a frequent No. 1 on Google Search Results for “Baroda Next”

This small Car is on Sale: The Electric Reva!

If you happen to visit the Reliance Digital Retail malls and see this cute chic there, don’t be surprised. Its not a part of offer or lucky draw. Its for sale.

Understandably, Reliance’s electronic mall would sell India’s first full indegeous electric car. This move saves Maini group from the pain of setting up dealer networks and directly bank roll on the established network of Reliance Digital. The credit crisis has stirred the brains of the marketing honcho’s brains who are coming up with out of the box delivery models (Tata Nano booked by State Bank of India) for their products.

Music of the Month: Yeh hai Delhi 6

The charismatic musical emperor he is, A. R. Rahman has casted his magic on the upcoming film “Delhi 6”. Basking in glory of Baftas and Golden Globes, Rahman just delivered another smash hit music for Delhi 6. The musician, who used to be refered in the past as the Plastic musician due to his new dependence on technologicall instruments, has delivered his best ever performance.

If you view it this way, A. R. Rahman has launched quality music for over a decade now. I had the first taste of his music in the Tamil movie Roja. After that, the most captivating (on a national level) was the “Chaiyaa Chaiyaa” where Shahrukh Khan danced on a open train. Moving on to 2005 release of RDB (Rang de Basanti) where he composed a brilliant Punjabi mix which got so popular. (more…)

  • Finally the wait is over: TATA NANO is coming!

Finally the wait is over: TATA NANO is coming!

To defy the words of Osama Suzuki, of Suzuki Motors, who jokingly said on TATA’s NANO “it would be a three-wheeler with a stepney”, TATA is launching the NANO finally on March 3. As a tribute to the JRD on his birthday, Tata is launching the Car of the Year for this year (it’s my prediction, Nano will have the crown). Wow, what a brilliant way to paying a tribute to JRD.

When is the Tata Nano Launching?

That has been the question on every one’s lips. What is the launch date of Tata Nano. People have kept asking me about it (I am famous with my circle of friends for Automobile updates) and everytime I have only one answer. I will ask Ratan Tata when he is free. Today the date is in the Public domain.

The famous phrase of Ratan Tata now stands valid “promise is a promise” and delivered. (more…)

  • Breaking Story: Trains services disrupted on Western Railway, protesting for ease of commuting

Breaking Story: Trains services disrupted on Western Railway, protesting for ease of commuting

At 9.27 my friend was waiting to board local for Church Gate.

The moment the train got on the platform a huge crowd got down on the track to stop the train. After a lot of slogan bashing, all understood that this is a protest against the recent increase in the frequency of trains plying between Church Gate and Virar.

Trains on the slow track were stopped after the group of people refused to allow trains to operate as they were demanding more frequency for locals between Borivali and Churchgate. My friend reported that a few arrests were being made and the GRP is clearing the tracks. This move put others turn violent. Train services affected for most regions include the Borivali – Virar line. There are conflicting reports where some have reported that Fast trains are working as normal, some are reporting that no single train has left the Borivali Station since 9.20 am. The protests started after the announcement made that the 9.10 AM train to Church Gate has been cancelled.

BEST has announced special buses to enable people to travel to Goregaon from where they can catch a train for Church Gate station. People can travel to Goregaon showing their Railway passes. At the time of this post update at 2.00 PM IST, train services continue to be hit.

The whole Western Railway, considered as Posh by many people, is getting crowded by the day and travelling between their homes and work is increasingly painstaking. There are lot of people who went back to their homes, perhaps for the day. People do not want to see these silent protests turn violent. Some people missed important appointments, some may miss their daily wages.

All this is being done in the hope that they would get a quick resolution.

The Mumbai Sub Urban rail transport carries more passengers in a day than any other in the whole world, and have a distinction of being effciently managed one at that (considering the number of people travelling). Western Railway has lesser number of trains plying (local and long distance) than Central Railway. There is a need for effective commuting planing to be implemented.

The protest shows the misery of people and there is a increasing demamd of a easy and confortable travelling experience.

  • Ghajini Effect

    Ghajini Effect

When I watched Ghajini for the first time in Tamil, I was amazed by the story and the performance of the cast. The beautiful lady she is, Asin made her mark well in the movie. While it was Surya Shivkumar who steals the show. The story is also laid perfectly. There is cretainly a difference from the original move it was adaped from, the Memento, directed by Christopher Nolan.

What surprises me the reception Aamir Khan’s version. Well it is his might behind the success of Ghajini. I am wondering how the film is received in Tamil Nadu where it is people have already had first hand experience of watching it earlier.

A few people had forwarded me SMSes which said that the movie’s suspense is out and that Aamir is the killer of his Asin in the movie. I knew that it is wrong and it is not the actual ending, since I had already watched it twice. I called up those and instructed them that not to spread the rumours and it may not be correct. Some also had decided that they do not wish to see the movie because they do not want to find out Aamir is the killer. They simply can’t see Aamir as the Killer.

This is acceptable, thinking that people don’t have seen it, or the tamil version. I wonder, is it a try by Aamir’s not-so-good-thinkers lobby spreading a wrong message and try to salvage Ghajini’s success.

The hype that had created by Ghajini Effect has proved very usefull. According to report published in the DNA Newspaper in Mumbai, Ghajini has attracted News coverage for different reasons amounting to 32 hours of Prime Time news and Lunch news advertisment slots for Free. As far as I remember, he is the only celebrity to have publicly promoted his movie, by setting up a hair cutting saloon for the event. I saw him shaving hairs on the news. Even Surya would not have thought off.

The Hair Cut, Abs, the Ghajini look, Samsung Ads all added up to create the Hype around the movie and it seems that the movie has really lived up to the hype.

Very good Aamir. He has proved that he is the real King Khan. He has only one or two movies a year. And they are so phenomenal, people love them. Exclusive and very low television pressence has added up to his value as an actor.
