  • Religious Clashes – Why do we need them at first place?

If you had a chance to read my post on The Great Indian Elections of 2014, there is something I had already said but did not anticipate it any time soon. Yes I am talking about the recent Communal clashes at Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.

For once, there is no clarity on what caused the riots – with numerous stories doing rounds on social networks. And I have seen a few of my friends on Facebook starting to post messages – things that say or give more importance of Hindutva or Hindu Nationalism. I choose to ignore those messages, however many others may not.

Following these clashes, an announcement by BJP led me to write on this. BJP announced that they will send Modi to Muzaffarnagar too.  (more…)

  • Problems with Add-On domains on CPanel

PS: This is a post which is a direct outcome of a discussion on IndiBlogger forum.

The question was whether Google and other Search Engines treat Add-On domains differently? The direct answer is no, but it does affect your SEO efforts. The culprit here being CPanel, the trusted and proven Web Hosting Manager used by most of the Hosting Service Providers.

I could not find a single post telling me everything I need, and I had to read through many forum threads to understand the issue. Hence I thought of putting it all together in a post, hoping to help fellow readers.

  • The Markets and how Sirya affected them!

The Markets and how Sirya affected them!

The news is out of the bag! Markets tanked 651 points in one day, downing by 3.45% compared to previous day close. Sensex tanked today, as nervous investors were worried about how things will now unfold in Syria.

Are you among the ones wondering what Sensex and its relative performance has to do with what is happening in Syria?

Well, first of all it has to do with the dreaded three-letter word. Oil. Second, a false missile strike news. Third, the Indian Rupee.

And if all of the above  were not enough, the scare of downgraded Investment ratings of our great country by Standard & Poor’s  added oil to the fire… see, did I not tell you that it all has to do with Oil?

The story that unfolded today at the market was to do with Oil. Not the cooking oil, bummer!

  • The IndiBlogger HP Android Meet

So this meet was announced in a very short time. The timing was confirmed only a week ago and what a Meet it turned out to be.

Renie put up a question asking who is ready to make a presentation on the Meet Comments page. I was up for it, but did not know what it was all about. It was the first time he ever asked such a question, publicly. So I called him up and understood that this time HP IndiBlogger Meet will have bloggers giving presentation – something meaningful that could help fellow bloggers.

Then Animesh and myself started working on two presentations – both which we planned of presenting together.

  • Food… err… Vote Security Bill – pay now, reap later

Congress’ plan to hatch the egg before elections is questionable. Everyone sees this as an opportunity to garner votes ahead of the crucial 2014 elections. Even more so since there is a NaMo mania creeping the countrymen and women.

As I set my eyes on horizon for the next year elections, there are two things which are very clear.

    1. BJP does not have the strength of its own to stand guard at National Parliament as things are at present.
    2. Congress’ coalition politics still can work

Food Security Bill would not have been needed if the existing bills worked the way they were supposed to work. The middle men are the largest beneficiaries – as things turned out with Ration and other schemes.

As Sharad Yadav puts, “The beneficiaries of the schemes hardly get any benefits because of the middlemen and rampant corruption. It is hunger and dignity that affect the poor the most in the country”

  • That rape thing is not good… media banks on a story yet again!

That rape thing is not good… media banks on a story yet again!

It is another gang rape, this time in Mumbai. We have been unable to wake up even after 16th December tragedy with Damini. The recent news of gang rape in Mumbai struck me like a bolt, that too in an area like Lower Parel at 6.30 PM in the evening.

The place was secluded, the property belonging to erstwhile Shakti Mills, and no one could hear her screams. Why in the world are we even trying them. At best, the rapists should be hanged and made an example for others – do it and you meet the similar fate.

I think a lot of this has been said in the news channels, papers, internet and almost everywhere and was deciding against writing one, though my heart and prayers go out to the victim and her family.

The reason I why was forced to write about was the claim made by Hindustan Times in today’s Mumbai edition. Even though the Police never said that the accused had raped many other women before, the paper went ahead and added that the accused have raped four other women (rag-pickers).

  • Increasing number of deaths on tracks…

The recent tragedy at Dharma Ghat has brought forth the long standing issue of deaths on the tracks. The tragedy, which killed 37 people (mostly women and kids), is currently marred in the blame game between the Railway Board, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP).

Apparently, people flocked Dharma Ghat because the day being last day of the holy month of Sawaan or Shrawan. The local train arrived at Dharma Ghat was over crowded due to this event, and the Railways were aware of the crowd turnout. The railway station does not have a Foot Over Bridge so the passengers are forced to cross the tracks.

As per their plans, all trains running that stretch were supposed to run max at the speed of 80KMph, however this was not informed to the driver. This would have helped to slow down the train in a timely manner and accident could have been averted. So clearly, the blame is on Railway Board.

  • The craze for wild life, travelling and science TV Channels

I am sure most of us have had faced this situation. At home, your dad / wife / mother / sister have all their time slots defined. At 8 it could be a serial at Colors, 8.30 at Zee, 9 at Star Plus and 10 at Life Ok (of course, for Mahadev). Do not go by the time I have mentioned, I never kept a track of these time slots anyway.

And in afternoons, there is repeat telecast of the shows and your wife / mother / sister missed because there were seeing other ones which clashed.

And I have to blame Ekta Kapoor here. She is the one who convinced Star to move Prime Time from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm with Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and the likes. You know, they caused a drastic change in the lifestyle of people, and their bio-clocks. (more…)

  • Happy Independence Day to all of you!

Wishing one and all a very Happy 67th Indian Independence Day!

  • How can you make copying from your blog difficult?

Well, this was one of the questions posted on the IndiBlogger forum, and something that I paid keen interested to. IndiBlogger forum was slowly moving away from the Sourav Pandey plagiarism case when this thread appeared.

It is a well-known fact that many a times, you find your content has been ripped off by plagiarist and claimed to be theirs. I faced that with my Tata Nano April Fool scoop a couple of years ago. I hunted down the sites using Google Search and Google Image Search, sent out emails / comments to Admins of the site to get my due credit. Some obliged, some did not.

Among the ones who did not were what we now call them Feed Aggregators. These websites chew your feed and put them on their site. The loss is the Ad revenues they get from showing off adverts and Google punishment on us for copying content.

  • The Great Indian Elections of 2014

The Great Indian Elections of 2014

Coming soon is the great Indian Elections in year of 2014. So many of us have openly shared jokes and puns on the Congress and how their rule affected all of us for last 10 years. Many of us are seeing Modi as an icon who will help change all of that like magic.

I am of the opine that things will not change drastically, at least not in next 3 years. As such, the country has lost their faith in political rule and only hoping that someone would change this. Modi being the hope actually.

He has his troubled past, the 2002 riots behind him. The Party behind him has its ups and downs recently, and does not possess its own strength to rein the votes to Prime Minister-ship. It remains to be seen how strong it gets before the elections. (more…)
