  • The Recession Poem: Life is always a pendulum swing!

The Recession Poem: Life is always a pendulum swing!

I was just traveling in a train when this came up in my mind. So here is a Recession poem for you people.

It stuck its seal with the Lehman Brothers,
Another deal in a week for others.

Money came hard for people who need it,
Who had it found it hard to keep it.

The Spending Mood changed its season,
For layoffs, companies needed a reason.

Then you start to feel the thing,
Life is always a pendulum swing!
    This is the recession thing!

Obamania struck just nick in time,
A hope for change was just thought in my mind.

It was business as usual for people in the frame,
The Executives do not feel the shame.

The markets make many poorer by the day,
Its the same the very next day.

Many wish to take the paycut,
The bosses were waiting to cut their pay.

You see, its all muck and greed,
I don’t know when we all be freed?

It is growing so fast and fat,
You would not realize when it gives you a pat.

Life is always a pendulum swing!
    This is the recession thing!

  • Merge: RIL and RPL in da house

You might have heard the same news in 2002 about Mr. Ambani is merging RPL and RIL.

Well, the same is happening again. Why is something nobody is interested in asking, for the reason is pretty much clear. The tax soaps and a lower price in the market are two major reasons to get things  moving quickly.

The board is meeting on March 2nd to decide on how to do that. Chevron’s 5pc stake in the refiner would be bought out at the same price Chevron bought them in April last year.

This could help Reliance to gain a place among the world’s top refiners.

  • Tax down: Sensex may see the Raise!

Tax down: Sensex may see the Raise!

The sudden announcement by Pranab Mukharjee on the service tax rate cuts is going to give a shot in arm the markets needs. The center has waived off 2% on service tax which now stands at 10%. This may come as a major relief for those industries which are service oriented. These include Courier, IT, Food and Restaurant, travel, retail malls, consultants, Banking and Finance. The indirect effect will be on all the industry segments, which would benefit from the service tax costs reduction in the raw material and production stage. Not all companies would be able to pass on the benefit immediately.

The tax reduction will see spending power to be increased marginally, the effect will be substantial by the month of May. The announcement is seen as a voter attraction technique, however it is ofcourse needed to put the economy on fast wheels.

  • Sun may end up with a Compromise!

Its been a year since the Israeli Taro refused to be bought by India’s Sun Pharmaceuticals, good news may finally be coming in. It was reported that the Sun’s CEO Dilip Sanghvi and Taro chairman met at the Mediator Ram Caspi’s place.

The presence of officials from Franklin Templeton which holds over 13% stake in Taro sparks the speculation that there is a strong possibility of a price increase in Sun’s offer.

Sun had dragged Taro when it did not honour its share sale agreement.

  • Cheap Politics

    Cheap Politics

What has the Congress and Slumdog Millionaire in common?
Absolutely nothing. But that did not stop Congress from claiming their effort in Slumdog Millionaire. Why do you do cheap politics? Is Congress so weak that it can’t even claim its own doing rather than claiming in some one else’s achievement?

It is utter disappointment. Some little support I had for congress has vanished with this act.

  • Sensex will tank: Sell Reliance to profit

Sensex will tank: Sell Reliance to profit

The sensex will tank today amid the growing speculation on the negative fallout of Obama’s stimulus package. Dow has fallen to 12 year record low.

Reliance is expected to open on high as the news is spread about the brothers meeting hinting of a possible truce. There reports are just the rumours, however the two may meet on the platinum birthday celebration their mother, Kokilaben.

If you see your Reliance share in profits, sell it.

  • The Interim Budget: Why it was a Vote Budget?

The Interim Budget: Why it was a Vote Budget?

The out-going Government at New Delhi presented a voter friendly interim budget last week. Why are our governments always believe in bleeding the economy more to retain their government. It all ends up to one thing. Win the general elections, regain voter confidence so that they can ignore the voters till the end of next five years!

That is why, instead of an economy friendly budget a voter budget was presented. It now time that the government stoped protecting the people who have money, and then started to have a broad view of India, the real India.

What Obama doing in US is to raise taxes for the wealthy, and offer packages to those who really need it. The Trillion Dollar Economic stimuls package hopefully will be able to reduce the economical drag. Why can’t India offer such a stimuls plan which should match in features, amounting to what it requires.

As Sirish puts in Overdrive, we all now are afraid or irritated to hear the “R” word more than the “F” word. But you would still use it in day to day basis. Whether you face it or not, the term Recession is being used to undue advantage by some. Delibrately putting the people at risk.

Why should a innocent, common man suffer? Why should he not be insulated from the greed from other people. Why not punish the people behind the scenes, who are responsible for this whole recessionary environment.

  • What’s Wrong with people: Attacks everywhere

What’s Wrong with people: Attacks everywhere

The LTTE attacked back in Srilanka a la 9/11 style in Colombo. Chennai is in doldrums after Shoot at sight orders have been issued after protests by Lawyers over arrest of a fellow laywer. And the Cheif Minister, in his hospital bed issues a note saying it is a political conspiricy.

Almost every state in India is a victim of some or other political issue.

Andhra: Satyam Scam has brought the rivalary of Naidu and YSR, Ruckus in Parliment

Tamil Nadu: The Lawyers of Chennai are the aimed on Guns, with shoot at sight order.

Kerala: The minister is accused of corruption

Karnataka: BJP and Ram Sene had created ruckus of themselves by beating girls and boys.

Maharashtra: Narayan Rane is inducted in the cabinet as Industrial Minister, which he does not want!
Maharashtra gov summons MNS chief over university row

Gujarat: Govt wants to table the Godhra report

Madhya Pradesh: In Nagpur workers of the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha ransacked some cabins including that of the Pro-VC in Nagpur university.

Uttar Pradesh: Action sought against Amar Singh for avoiding forex taxes for donating money for the Clinton Foundation, Ruckus at Assembly

Rajasthan: In Jaipur, students protested at the at the education department. Members of the BJP youth wing protested against the government’s decision to stop recruitment for various posts in the department.

Delhi: The Speaker gets frustrated with MP’s demands, curses them. Former Telecom minister convicted after unaccounted money was found at his residence.

PATNA: An irate mob of Patna University (PU) students ransacked the university office and damaged the gates to protest for extension of the last date for submission of examination forms

Haryana: Former deputy CM who changed his faith and name for his girlfriend “Fiza” now not to be seen anywhere.

    And some more…

This is so rediculous. We are creating ruckus of our own system. Everyday, we go out for work hoping that nothing nasty happens. Now you just have to believe that you dont need to wait for a terrorist to strike a blow, it can happen because of your very own people to press for some demand. Also, there is a serious problem with the way the people at the helm of the governement conduct their business.

NO longer, people of India follow Ghandhiji’s footsteps of Non-violence and peace.

  • The Clash of the Titans: The Politians and IPL

The Clash of the Titans: The Politians and IPL

Its the clash of Titans in a game of one’s self. Only, the games are different. One is the game called politics, other is the Twenty20. This year is critical for all the politicos because of complex dynamics and no clear winner in the vicinity.

Venkaiah Naidu has publicly acknowledge that IPL’s date clashing with General Elections may affect the voter turnout. IPL honcho, Lalit Modi had denied any chances of changing the dates for IPL.

  • Project Tiger is a non sense?

Project Tiger is a non sense?

While I was watching Discovery yesterday, this series about the wild animals in India showcased how the authorites responsible for saving the Tiger ignored the requests of scientists and Wild Life conservative organisations. This led a massive increase in the cases of Poaching which resulted in a huge loss to the assests (Tiger) of the state.

  • This small Car is on Sale: The Electric Reva!

This small Car is on Sale: The Electric Reva!

If you happen to visit the Reliance Digital Retail malls and see this cute chic there, don’t be surprised. Its not a part of offer or lucky draw. Its for sale.

Understandably, Reliance’s electronic mall would sell India’s first full indegeous electric car. This move saves Maini group from the pain of setting up dealer networks and directly bank roll on the established network of Reliance Digital. The credit crisis has stirred the brains of the marketing honcho’s brains who are coming up with out of the box delivery models (Tata Nano booked by State Bank of India) for their products.

  • A shock absorber: Economic stimulus plan

The announcement of the economic stimulus plan by the government of United States, combined with an election budget had influenced an market rally of 3%. The reaction of the market is seen as a positive feeling it has from the outcome from the above actions. If successfully implemented, will help achieve the market prediction of 11k.

However the details of the Interim budget has been negative the India Inc / markets. The markets plumpted by 330 pts. The Budget is widely touted as the election budget. The government wants to survive the upcoming general elections. Currently there are no favorites, but BSP Supremo, Mayavati is expected to make a killing. She is certainly not among the liked ones, but will certainly play spoil sport.

Congress may have a fair chance to head for a Coaliation Government. The BJP sounds dangerous at the moment with a lot of vying for Singular (Hinduatva) views than Secular views. I do not wish to change this country’s view on Secular way of life, like the middle east does. (more…)

  • Market Prediction: If Sensex crosses 11k, Markets can regain confidence.

Market Prediction: If Sensex crosses 11k, Markets can regain confidence.

The stock markets are going through the bitter pain due to the unpredictable market conditions where companies are announcing major cost cutting initiatives and stalling new project initiatives. Some of the market Industries would bounce in action owing to their immunity to the recessionary environment. There include the Entertainment, Consumer goods, Sugar, etc.

Of course these alone could not bring up the market. But collectively, if the markets are able to pull off and breach the 11k mark, then it would be the good news. As the confidence in the market grows, so will the willingness of consumers to spend.

This action will influence investment in Mutual Funds, and other allied products. The only demand for Mutual Funds today is for tax saving purpose where every tom, dick and harry are running here and there to make sure they get enough of these Mutual Funds to save tax.

The interest of a common man now rests on the confidence in the Markets. As it is said in the heading, if Sensex manages to breach the 11k mark, then Markets will find more confidence in the Markets and the pessimism that currently is seen would get diluted.
