Getting OLD: Aamir Khan in the new Tata SKY advertisment

You can expect Aamir to do something that is really out of the way.

Aamir now becomes the old Sardar man who drives a equally old VW Beetle who is going to pay electricity bill.

    Watch the Making.

  • Nano Bookings started today

    Nano Bookings started today

People are so mad that they wanted be among the first to book the Nano on the midnight of 9th, the opening day for Forms.

Besides Tata Motors authorized showrooms, the forms costing Rs.300 each, have been made available at other Tata companies including Titan Watch Stores, Tata Indicom True Value shops, Westside and Croma stores. If you remember, I had written about the Electric Reva being sold at Reliance Digital.

Now, Tata Motors is moving in that direction. Don’t be surprised if you find more cars in Retail Supermarkets in near future.

Tata Motors Finance will give you a 100 % loan for the booking at an interest rate of 12 % to 13 %.

  • The new INR 10 Coin

    The new INR 10 Coin

I remember last time using a 10 INR Coin was when I was in 6th standard and had stolen from my mom’s coin collection. Well, I was a bit mischievous. Never mind.

Now you can get hands on one yourself. RBI has announced the launch of new Rs. 10 Coin and ironically, this time it is a bimetallic Coin. The first bimetalic coin after a long time.

As the introduction of coins of denominations (of Re.1, Rs. 2, Rs.5) the notes of the subsequent denominations gradually vanish from the market and coins become the numero uno exchanger. Hence, similar effect is expected that Rs. 1o note will be phased out slowly.

The coin really looks beautiful and it is designed by NID, Ahmedabad. But there is a visible cut that makes it a little less flawless. Hence, people might have mixed reactions on the dezign front. The metals used are a mixture of Nickel & Bronze for the golden side, and Ferrous steel in the inside.

  • LMN or Nimbooz? Which one will you prefer?

LMN or Nimbooz? Which one will you prefer?

In the summer, Pepsico could not have found a better product than producing the classical Indian Lemonade. Yes, you might have already seen the adverts, but there is a new rival in the market already.

Parle Agro launched LMN [short for Lemon] just a week after Nimbooz gone live. Nimbooz createad a stirr in the market where people who normally prefer to have an arreated drink switched back to the age old formula of Lemonade.

Lemonade helps you during this tough summer season, especially if you are a guy who is always on the field.

I have tasted both the products and I have to say that Nimbooz a much better product than LMN. The package quality of Nimbooz is also much better than LMN. Did you taste it? Write in your comments.

    Advertisment Review

While both the advertisment are good, LMN stands out because the idea creating a Lilliputian on the beach of full Gaints. It creates exitement. Dirnking LMN changes your energy levels, which is exactly what is potrayed in the advertisment.

The background score of Nimbooz stands loud and clear than that of LMN. I liked the hint of Indianess in the Nimbooz advert.

    My Rating:

    Nimbooz: 2.5/5
    LMN: 3.5/5

  • Reliance GSM Network Quality (Review)

    Reliance GSM Network Quality (Review)

Updated on 3rd April 09, original article dates back to 15th January 09.

Reliance GSM Network Quality is poorer than I would have thought.

Initially when I had inserted the SIM card and started the phone, It was working fine. Reliance to Reliance, GSM and CDMA both does not have a major connectivity problem with each other. Its for others who you have to bargain for. Connectvity to Airtel suffers big time, Vodafone was just ok.

    Features

Other than its Network Quality, on a positive note for customers is that 900 Rs. worth of talktime you would get for a period of 90 days i.e. Rs. 10 every day (not in all circles). I have not been able to get in touch with customer care so that I can calrify a few doubts.

    1. Every day you would get 10 INR as talktime/
    2. For the first two days, you get Rs. 20 as validity. For the first day, you get Rs. 20 with validity of  two days. Then, Rs. 10/- each day till 90th day since your activation.
    3. Reliance to Reliance free, after 11.oo Pm
    4. No information about GPRS etc.
    5. 6 Months Validity
    6. Rs. 25 for Sim card and Rs 50 first recharge.

With these information still at bay, you cannot have a good review. Wait and watch for a full review.

    Update day two:

Call quality was very good against as expected. I don’t get network inside my office premises. Making a call is still a pain, you have to dial the same number some ten – fifteen times to get connected.

    Update: Month One

Call quality is still superb, but Connectivity issues remain. Mobile GPRS enabled, Browsing as quick as others, though not better. Making a call still remains the pain, but otherwise the connection is active. Reliance GMS Call Quality is as same as the CDMA which really is appreciated. Call drops are more frequent, hence issues still remains on the network front.

    Update: Month Two

After two months of using Reliance GSM Network, the Quality of Network has gone up, disconnections between calls have come down (call drops), Customer service pathetic. Customer Service is not good enough to beat the leaders in the Industry. Call quality has come down a bit, though making a call still is a pain.

    Update: Month Three

The free talktime is now finished, hence I have stopped calling these days.

Network remains bad. Call quality remains superb. Calling still is a pain and Call Drops are high.

Budget airlines are now introducing new flight service and schemes to either expand the aviation pie or wean away passengers from other players.

Almost all the no-frills airlines are going all the way to woo fliers with service offering that leaves little difference between full service carriers such as Jet Airways Kingfisher airlines, Air lines and Paramount Airways. SpiceJet Ltd had started offering tea and coffee about a month ago, will now be serving breakfast onboard its aircraft. The airline has also done away with the charge of Rs 500 on unaccompanied child and extra baggage fee for overseas travellers that have connecting international flight within 24 hours.

The trend that started off when Kingfisher Red started offering snacks fliers.

Mumbai overheats as temp touches 40°C

    (Updated post here)

As such the summer is so undesireable in Mumbai, and to have temperatures break the roof is like hit on the face and at the back at the same time. On Wednesday, the maximum daytime temperature recorded was a maximum of 40.6°C.

It is too bad thing for me. I am sweaty person and it falls like Rivers and Waterfalls from my body. When I try to sleep in the night, it is all over my body. Since the whole day is spent in the comfort of Central A/c in office, when you come home you cannot possible bear the heat.

“But this is not unusual for summer. March too saw days when the daytime temperature rose up to 40C in the city, if April is so hot, how terrible will May be?” (more…)

BRAWN GP Wins a One Two: A Debut Record

Jenson Button and Rubens completed a perfect one – two for Brawn GP in their debut racing season in Melbrourne. The only other moment like this was in 1954 and ironically, it was the team Mercedes Benz’s debut. Brawn GP is running on the McLaren Mercedes Benz engines.

Both the Ferraris of Kimi and Massa did not finish, both the BMWs of Nick and Kubica were positioned at 10th and 15th position. Timo Glock who started from pit lane ended his race at 4th position followed by Alonso at 5th. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), released the Game “Hanuman-Boy Warrior” yesterday. The Game is a milestone in Indian Animation Industry since this is fully developed in India and developed for a platform such as Sony PS2 is something we all can be proud off. With more companies looking actively at the Indian Animation industry, every one is benefitting with new wave. • Satyam future to be out soon? L&T is the winner anyways

Satyam’s future would be out soon? There are conflicting reports in the market about the stance of Spice Group. Some section of media is reporting that Spice group is being seen as the favorite for purchasing Satyam, while it is also being reported that Spice would move out of the Financial bid citing irregularities as reason. What is going on is something every one is guessing!

Tech Mahindra and L&T would benefit the most from this acquisition since they have their own set ups and this move would be a inorganic growth for both the firms. Arranging finance would be a problem for Tech Mahindra without active backing from the parent group, Mahindra, while Spice is full of cash following the recent sale of Spice Communications. (more…)

  • Market Prediction

    Market Prediction

After a whole dull season, the sensex saw a big improvement yesterday, breaking estimates of a negative free fall. As I had predicted last time, it seems we are on path to be the first country to get rid of the recession thing.

The US Markets closed the highest yesterday since 28th October last year, making me happier. The rise was attributed to the announcement of plans to Toxic Restructure of the economy. Trigger factors would be lesser today as compared to yesterday and markets may take a small dive, but do not expect it to tank suddenly to yesterday’s opening levels.

  • Tata Nano to be launched: Some Loan specific details

Tata Nano to be launched: Some Loan specific details

Ratan Tata will be marking a historic event in India, and its motor industry.

I have compiled a few information which should assist any Nano buyer.

    Loans from Bank:

Nano is targeted at a group where most of the people will be choosing for a loan that putting cash on the table.

SBI group may be the leading lender for Tata’s Nano, but it may not be offering the cheapest interest rates. SBI and associated banks may be offering loans for Tata Nano at the prevaling interest rates, at around 11.5 – 12 %. At the same time, taking a loan from BoI (Bank of India) may be much affordable, since loans interest rates for the Nano’s perspective customers of Nano would be around 12.5 %.
