  • Friendships lasts long… really long…

On the first Sunday of August, the whole world celebrates the most celebrated occasion, the Friendship Day! I have created two cute images that reflects the importance of being together. On this day, I would like to thank all who been my friends, who have been with all my joy and sorrow.

Also to thank those non-living Toys that I have been playing with in childhood. Call it Toy Story 3 effect.

  • A for Elephant and B for Dog – Remembering Navin Mama

This is what an uncle in my home town used to tease me. Knowingly that I get irritated and walk to him and teach him that he was wrong. My 4 year old mind never realized it then that he wanted me to come close to him and play with him…

He was not a relative, but someone who maintained a relationship that went beyond the designation of a relative.

I always argued with him and he loved it. Slowly we turned close and were enjoying eachother’s company. He knew that I liked candies as against Chocolate or any of the Cadburies. When he saw me for the first time, it was during the navaratri festival we used to celebrate in Kerala. I was running here and there and he found me really cute. He picked me up and was looking for my mother. No to hand me over, but to ask whether “can I take him with me forever”.

Such was the affection that I shared with Navin Mama that today I am in deep pain, because he is no longer with us.

He always was fond of children and loved all children in our locality and elsewhere, but for me he was a special person. I pray to god that he rest in peace. Love you mama.

  • Painfully Sweet Memories

I have been out of Blogging for a high time now and hope to start blogging regularly again.

What prompted me to write this blog today has a lot to do with relationships that I have shared with a few, but very important individuals in my life. Some spent time together with me because I was a close friend, some did that because I was a bit more than their best friends.

But it often happens that the people we tend to miss a lot give you more of that opportunity. And today was one such day that I missed a very special friend. Of course I will not be able to name them, and you may not even know that person. When friendship gets real close, you get used to being with that person and when he/she moves away, you miss them a lot. Even if you are still in touch, a change in that relationship is always gonna hurt you more.

This hurt is also sweet. By Sweet, I mean to say that you enjoy thinking about those memories that make you happy and wish he/she were still there with you. I dont know if you understand my feelings, because I am not really clear what should I reveal and what should not since the other person should not really read this.

Put your two cents of thought as Comments on this post.

  • Art of Chilling @ Fosters

Foster’s AOC (Art of Chilling) party is an exclusive [only by Invite] event.

For me, the last two months have been very hectic… that was also evident from my blog. I did justice only once a month, effectively, two posts in two months. Which is sad but lets just hope things to change! Sorry my regulars…

So let me take you back to what I want to share. Good friend Renie Ravin, the Founder and Web Architech of IndiBlogger.in send a mail informing the exclusive entry pass available for me so that I can unwind myself. It was for the Foster’s Art of Chilling. Last time around too I had got an invite, but I wasnt able to go. But this time, I was destined to.

These guys know how to party, and Foster’s is really famous for that. I had asked all my lady friends out, and a few agreed… So finally, I had two of the ladies coming but there was a problem. I had to get the number of people in Even numbers, so either I had to get a friend along or I had to get one more lady.

I rang up Renie many times to confirm which combination will work for me and updated the status so that I can secure passes. He was patient and always took the call and tried to help out. Finally, it did work out.

We reached the  event albeit late owning to the honky traffic at Kurla. The journey towards the event was actually bad but so immersed were we in the thought “Art of Chilling” that we did not feel we were wasted by the traffic.

Location: The Club, Andheri West, Mumbai
Event: The Foster’s Art of Chilling

To start off with, the music that was being played was cool and was going with the environment. For those who dont drink Beer, there was a special arrangement. The Coconut. The moment you had that with a Pool side party gives you a Hawaiian kick. That is why I keep saying that these guys know how to to Rock!

The food was awesome and in numerous variety to suite different tastes. The moment some one has a can of the Foster’s Beer within such an environment, it can send chills down your spine.

    Foster’s Rock.

Disclaimer: This article contains mention of Alcoholic drink. I, in no way endorse the consumption.

  • Loosing my first phone

If I had a Samsung Guru, I might have been able to trace the person who stole it! But no, I had a Motorola V3 Razor.

Worst of all, it got stolen in office environment. And since there is no other way to trace it than getting phone disable it using its IMEI Number. I use three phones and I carry them daily. I never had lost one till date even though I travel in trains carrying them. But I lost it at a palce where I believed to be the safest place.

    Sob Sob!

  • Women and their addiction to men's height!

Once I was having a lighter discussion with my mom when she revealed that she would have preffered a taller man to a same heighted or slightly tall. My dad is taller, but not much. During those days women hardly get to choose. Ever since, I am still trying to find out why women like taller men. When I say taller, it means taller atleast by 5′ taller.

    Crica 2009

Just because I really didnt had any mood to work today, I tried to do a small research (read: bird watching) on Shaadi.com. I saw a few beautiful girls there, but what surprised me here was that most of the good looking girls there had set parameters similar to what I described above. Height was important for them.

I am 5″3′ tall and am fair and when I looked at those women who share the same height as mine wanted someone who was 5″8′ tall. (more…)

  • Been to Ahmedabad! Plenty of time out of work

Going to a friends marriage was the reason that I was looking for skipping my office as I was tired big time. Wanted to get fresh and stay away from everything. But once back in office, its the same life. Stuck, I say.

So what I have here is a few pics I had taken from Ahmedabad trip. I took my camera out only when we visited the Science City there. Some of my favorites.

I have update some of the videos I had taken on the My Videos page at hemalshah.net

  • Evening @ Summer Funk

I got hold of a pass for the Summer Funk, the dance show by students of Shiamak’s Dance Academy. And it did cost me a good 300 bucks, but was worth it. It was really awesome.

This dance show is organized so that students can get their taste of a stage show after learning the dance for the first time, and for the old timers it gives more experience. There are different categories under which performances were sorted and the one liked the most was the dance done by Victory Arts Foundation which is not – for – profit academy which teaches dance to those who are physically disabled.

When I saw deaf people dancing, I was taken aback. How in the world do they do it? And such coordination of steps left my mouth opened for minutes!  Though I had visited Summer Funk last year as well, this time it was different. It was 15th anniversary of Summer Funk and Shiamak himself was there.

Some funny events also did happen. Barclays had organized a lucky draw where two set of DVDs were to be awared and the winners choosen in the lucky draw were two Mehtas from the same family.  One mom, other was her child. The other prize went to Poonam Davar, Shiamak’s mom. She herself then nominated another women to be chosen as the lucky one than herself.

All in all, it was a great evening.

  • When someone close goes away

I could not digest the grief my best friend was going through. When some one as close as her dad. She was broken into pieces. We used to speak almost every day. The last I spoke to her was more than a week back and it was today that I could muster up the courage to call her.

It was obvious to me that i will have the call go miss. But then did she responded. I can console my self about any thing but it is very difficult to say to some one else, especially when this some one is very close to you. I pray to the good lord to rekindle the strength she has within her, so that she can move on in her life.
